Himsagar ExpressThe Himsagar Express is a weekly express train that runs between Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu) and Katra (Jammu & Kashmir). It's the second longest route of the Indian Railways and crosses 12 states and makes stops at 73 stations.
The VendorsRailway platforms are filled with food vendors selling snacks (both packaged and freshly made). Here we see a vendor making 'bread pakoras' which are a fried snack made of bread slices, gram flour, and spices. The biscuit packets seen are 5 rupees (approx. 8 cents USD) packs of Parle G biscuits - the world's largest selling biscuit and an Indian household staple. The man is drinking chai - a popular sight on the railways owing to the country's love for this beverage and the multitude of tea vendors.
